Three individuals were injured and several others were detained following a shooting near Monument Circle in the downtown area early Monday morning. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers responded around 2 a.m. on June 23 to reports of gunfire at the intersection of South Meridian Street and West Washington Street, just south.

Journalist Kyla Russell verified the incident on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Three people were shot near Monument Circle just before 1:45 a.m. Monday. IMPD reports that the victims are in stable condition.”

Another reporter, Kit Hanley, also confirmed the event, sharing a photo from the scene and noting, “BREAKING: IMPD is investigating after three people were shot near Monument Circle just before 2 a.m… All three victims are said to be stable,” the post read.
