Massive fire engulfs ‘Anupama’ Set in Film City; Probe demanded

A massive fire broke out early this morning on the set of the popular television show Anupama at Mumbai's Film City.

Mumbai, June 23: A massive fire broke out early this morning on the set of the popular television show Anupama at Mumbai’s Film City. The blaze erupted around 5 a.m., just two hours before the scheduled start of shooting, and has caused expensive damage to the set, halting production temporarily.

Set reduced to ashes, nearby sets also damaged

The Anupama Set has been completely destroyed, with flames spreading to neighbouring sets of other TV shows, causing partial damage. At the time of the fire, several crew mwmbers were present preparing for the day’s shoot Thankfully, no casualities have been reported.

The fire department arrived promptly and worked for hours to bring the blaze under control. the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Cine workers Association demands judicial inqiuiry  

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded a high-level judicial probe into the incident. in a letter addressed to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta has urged for strict action and accountability.

He has also demanded the suspension of the Film City Managing Director and the Labor Commissioner, holding them responsible for negligence that endangered the lives of the workers.

Allegations of Negligence and Insurance Fraud

Gupta further alleged that repeated accidents on film sets may be linked to producer negligence or deliberate sabotage for insurance claims. The association has warned that if proven, they will push for filing legal complaints against the producer, production house, TV Channel, Film City Management, and the Labor Commissioner.

Call for fire safety audits and blacklisting

AICWA has also demanded a comprehensive fire safety audit across all shooting sets in Maharashtra. They demands that nay production unit or Film City authority found guilty of negligence should be blacklisted from future work in the industry.

Production Halted, investigation underway

Shooting of Anupama has been suspended until further notice. Authorities are expected to begin a detailed investigation into the fire incident and assess the damage caused.
