Shimla, June 28: A flash flood alert has been issued in Himachal’s Solan and Sirmaur districts during the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh bulletin this morning and advised people living in low-lying areas of both the districts to remain alert. There is a possibility of continuous rain in the state for the next 5 days.
Today, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. Tomorrow, i.e. on Sunday, a warning of very heavy rain has been issued in 6 districts Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Sirmaur and Solan. Heavy rain may also occur in some parts of Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Mandi.
A yellow alert has been issued in Una, Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan districts on June 30. Last night also, it rained in many parts of Shimla and Mandi.
6 bodies recovered from Khaniyara in Dharamshala
At the same time, no trace of 7 people could be found even on the fourth day in Khaniyara village of Dharamshala and Bihali village of Kullu. Search operation is going on to find them. These people were swept away in the floods that came after the cloudburst on Wednesday, June 1.
So far 6 bodies have been recovered from Khaniyara in Dharamshala, while Nand Lal (72), his daughter Murti Devi (15) and sister (67) Yan Dasi, who were missing from Bihali village, are yet to be traced. Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified person was recovered from Tirthan Valley in Kullu on Friday.
5 dead bodies identified
The workers whose bodies were found in Dharamshala’s Khaniyara include Chain Singh (20) resident of village Kumari Bhalla Doda (Jammu-Kashmir), Aditya Thakur resident of village Rakh (Chamba), Chandan resident of Sohanpur (UP), Pradeep Verma resident of Sohanpur (UP) and Sanjay son of Harbans Singh resident of Pankudra Kangra. One is yet to be identified.
Kullu: Cloud burst at 4 places and 1 place in Dharamsala
On Wednesday, cloudburst occurred at four places in Kullu. These include Jiva Nala (Sainj), Shilagarh (Garhsa) valley, Stro Gallery (Manali) and Horangarh (Banjar). After the cloudburst, heavy rain started within a few minutes. This suddenly increased the water level of rivers and streams. Due to this, people did not get a chance to recover.
Advisory to stay away from rivers and streams
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has appealed to the tourists along with the local people to not go to rivers, streams and landslide prone areas. In the districts, DCs are also repeatedly appealing to the people through loudspeakers not to do so.
