A moving electric scooter suddenly caught fire late Friday night in the Greenfield area of Faridabad. Locals present at the spot controlled the fire by putting water. The vehicle owner said that the incident may have happened due to a short circuit.
Vikas, a resident of Badarpur Border, Delhi, said that he was returning home on a GP electric scooter rented from Faridabad at around 10:30 pm on Friday night. Vikas said that he had rented this scooter on June 5 from ZYPP company, with which he was working in riding services like Ola, Uber and Rapido.
Was returning after dropping the passenger
On Friday evening also, he was returning after dropping a passenger at Gurgaon. As soon as he reached near Greenfield area of Faridabad, the scooter suddenly caught fire, which he was not aware of initially. Other drivers coming from behind saw the fire and smoke coming out of the scooter and immediately alerted Vikas.
Vikas says that the reason for the fire in the scooty could be a short circuit, because he had not tampered with the scooty nor did he feel any technical problem. He said that the scooter was just 20-22 days old, and a sudden fire in it is worrying.
Passer Ravi also said that he had seen fire in the rear part of the scooter from a distance and immediately informed Vikas, after which he stopped the scooty in time and helped.
