Punjab police bust International drug network in joint operation; 60 kg heroin seized in Rajasthan

A major success has been achieved in the war against drugs in Punjab. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an international drug network in collaboration with the Border Security Force and the Rajasthan Police.

Amritsar, June 30: A major success has been achieved in the war against drugs in Punjab. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an international drug network in collaboration with the Border Security Force and the Rajasthan Police. During the operation, a huge consignment of 60.302 kg heroin was recovered near the international border in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

This drug syndicate was being operated by Pakistan-based smuggler Tanveer Shah, while its foreign network was being handled by Canada-based handler Joban Keller. DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav informed that arrests are being made continuously in this case and the investigation is still going on, more arrests will be made soon.

9 main accused arrested from across the country

9 main operatives associated with this network and agents associated with the hawala network have been arrested from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. All these accused were involved in drug smuggling, distribution and funding through hawala.

Vow to make Punjab free from narco-terrorism

DGP Punjab has tweeted that he is fully committed to freeing Punjab from narco-terrorism. The police has emphasized that action is being taken in collaboration with all security agencies to root out such international networks.
