Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, arrested in the disproportionate assets case in Punjab, has not yet received any immediate relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. While hearing the petition filed on his behalf, the High Court said that Majithia has been remanded again yesterday. But the new remand order given by the Mohali court has not been issued yet. On this, the government lawyer said that the order will come by 2 pm today. After this, the court has now decided to hear the case tomorrow. Akali Dal lawyer Arshdeep Singh Kaler said that the remand order has not come. In such a situation, the case will be heard tomorrow.
Majithia’s lawyer, Arshdeep Singh Kler, said that this case has been registered on the basis of the rejected report, which was cancelled by the Supreme Court. The lawyers of the Punjab government had also presented the same facts in the apex court.
Earlier on July 2, Majithia was produced after the completion of his seven-day remand. The court said that the vigilance brought forth new things about his property in the investigation. The court also said that the case has to be investigated by going to Gorakhpur, UP.
After hearing all the facts, the court has given four days’ remand to the vigilance bureau. Yesterday, many leaders protested against the arrest of Bikram Singh Majithia. Several leaders were detained in their houses, while many were arrested on the way. SAD president Sukhbir Badal was also arrested from Mohali.
