Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met Union Water Power Minister CR Patil in Delhi and also handed him a letter. In which he has appealed for the necessary cooperation for a permanent solution to the serious problem of floods.

Kuldeep Dhaliwal wrote in the letter that during heavy rains, flooding in the areas of the Ravi river near Ajnala in Amritsar not only causes damage to the farming of the farmers but also causes serious damage to the posts of the Army and BSF posted on the border, which adversely affects the security of the country.

He said that due to floods, there is a danger of drug smuggling increasing in the area. This poses a serious challenge to the security of the state and the nation. Therefore, the minister has appealed to the Center to provide the necessary funds to the Punjab government to strengthen the flood control structure, strengthen border security and stop illegal activities.
