Punjab Police bust arms and hawala syndicate; 9 arrested along with drug money

Police arrested total 9 accused in both the operations

In a major intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted an international narco-arms module and an inter-state narco-hawala syndicate. The information has been shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. Police arrested total 9 accused in both the operations.

 

In the first case of an international narco-arms module, three accused were arrested. As per police, two accused recently have returned from Malaysia. They were arrested with 5 sophisticated pistols (including Glock & Chinese pistols) and 1 Kg Heroin.

The accused were acting on directions from handlers in Pakistan and Malaysia to deliver weapons across Punjab.

In another case of an interstate narco hawala syndicate, total six accused were arrested by the police. As per police, the narco-hawala network was linked to Delhi, Karnataka, and Dubai. Police operation also led to recovery of ₹9.7 lakh drug money and 150gms of heroin.

The syndicate was routing proceeds to Dubai through hawala channels.

Recovery by Police 

The total recovery of both operations is 1.15 Kg Heroin, 5 Pistols (3 Glock 9mm and 2 Chinese pistols along with cartridges) & ₹9.7 lakh drug money.

FIRs have been registered at PS Sadar & PS Islamabad, Amritsar. Further investigations are underway to trace both forward and backward linkages

DGP Yadav assured that the Punjab Police remains committed to breaking the drug-arms nexus and ensuring a SafePunjab.
