Police raid in Ludhiana: 5 drug smugglers arrested; 3 still on run

Ludhiana, July 4: Police raided Talwandi village in Ludhiana this morning under CASO operation. Police had been keeping an eye on 8 drug smugglers for the past one week. Today when police raided their hideouts, 5 smugglers were caught, while 3 are still absconding.

Many types of narcotics have been recovered from the arrested accused. 18 cases of drug smuggling are already registered against them and all the accused were out on bail.

CP said- 8 people were on the police radar

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that like always, today also we secretly raided the village Talwandi under Ladowal police station in the morning. 8 suspicious people were on the police radar. 5 drug smugglers were arrested in the raid. Information regarding the amount of drugs recovered from these smugglers will be given later.

467 FIRs registered in 4 months

Commissioner Sharma said that in the last 4 months from March till now, the police has registered 467 FIRs against drug smugglers. The police has arrested 623 drug smugglers. So far, 92% of the cases being registered in the district are of drug smuggling. The police keeps an eye on every movement of the person who is out on bail.

Who are the people he meets or what kind of activities is he involved in. If someone is trapped in the quagmire of drugs, he is also admitted to a de-addiction centre. In 4 months, the police team has recovered 20 kg heroin, 15 kg opium, 3 quintals of poppy husk etc. from drug smugglers.
