Kangana faces anger from flood-hit local in Mandi, Sparks political row

BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut reached the flood-affected area Seraj in her constituency Mandi (Himachal Pradesh).

Mandi, July 7: BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut reached the flood-affected area Seraj in her constituency Mandi (Himachal Pradesh). Here a woman got angry at Kangana. She said to Kangana, “Have you come just to get your photo taken? It doesn’t happen that you catch two men, get your photo taken and then leave.”

On this, Kangana told the woman, ‘Everyone keeps calling me Kangana-Kangana. What cabinet do I have? I have my two brothers who keep accompanying me. Nor do I get any relief fund. I will bring a special package (fund), but the Congress government will swallow it.’

Cloudbursts have occurred at 16 places in Mandi since the night of June 30. 14 people have died due to floods, while 28 people are still missing. Kangana is an MP from Mandi. She has been visiting flood-affected areas since July 6 after seeing the damage caused by the floods.

Kangana was trolled for not visiting flood-affected areas

Kangana Ranaut was trolled on social media before her tour. Kangana had written on X, ‘I was visiting the Mandi area. During this time, a stone fell on my car. This time is not safe for travel in Himachal.’ After this, people started questioning Kangana for not visiting the flood-affected areas in Mandi.

When former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur was questioned on this, he said, ‘I do not know. I do not want to comment on this. We are here. We are here to live and die with those who are concerned. I do not want to comment on those who are not.’

In response to this, Kangana had said- ‘I tried to reach the flood-affected areas of Seraj and Mandi, but Jairam Thakur advised me to wait until the roads are restored.’

Last year too, she reached the affected areas late.

Last year on 31st July, a cloud burst occurred in Samej in Shimla, Bagipul in Kullu and a village in Mandi. Around 51 people died in the floods. During that time too, Kangana did not visit the disaster affected people for several days.

Then Kangana had written in a post on social media, ‘I spoke to the MLAs and DCs of the flood-affected areas, they advised me not to travel to Himachal right now, as there is red and orange alert in many places.’

However, a few days later Kangana reached the flood affected areas. Here she said that the Sukhu government of Congress stopped me from going to the flood affected areas.

Minister Vikramaditya said – No need of chair for help

PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh took a jibe at Kangana’s cabinet statement. Vikramaditya Singh wrote on his Facebook account, ‘One does not need a chair to help someone. Whether there is a cabinet or not, it is necessary to have strong willpower. It is sad to see how this whole subject is being ridiculed.’

Pawan Khera said- Kangana should resign

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that the ruling party’s MP says that they do not have funds for disaster. They do not have power for relief. The way Kangana has said this while laughing is very insensitive. The MP should resign.
