Jaipur, July 8: This time, the monsoon arrived seven days earlier in Rajasthan and has completed the quota of rain for the month in just 15 days. 21 dams in the state have been filled to the brim due to heavy rains.
The rain has not stopped yet. There is an alert of heavy rain in five divisions of the state (Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur) in the next 15 days. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will remain active throughout the month of July.
Rainfall was twice the average
In the first month of the monsoon season, from 1st to 30th June, twice the average rainfall has been recorded. A total of 125.3 mm rainfall has been recorded, whereas the average rainfall in June is only 55 mm. That means this time in the month of June, 128 percent more rainfall than the average was recorded.
After a long time, the gates of Kota Barrage were opened in the month of June. Water was also seen coming into Bisalpur Dam from Triveni River. So far, 21 dams have been completely filled. At the same time, there are 95 dams which had dried up, water has also arrived there.
Weather experts say that this time both branches of monsoon (Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal) are continuously active, due to which the state is receiving continuous rainfall due to the formation of systems from time to time. Two big systems were also formed in June, due to which there was good rainfall in the south-eastern and western districts of the state.
Water inflow in Bisalpur dam in June
Usually, the inflow of water in Bisalpur dam starts from July, but after a long time it was seen that water started coming in the dam from June 16, which is continuing continuously.
Meanwhile, the Triveni river also started flowing in June. This time, water had to be drained out by opening two gates of the Kota Barrage Dam built on the Chambal River.
Baran district recieves more rainfall
If we look at the district-wise report, the highest rainfall in the month of June was recorded in Baran district. 390.4 mm rainfall was recorded here in the entire month, which was 284 percent more than the average rainfall of 101.7 mm here.
After Baran, Banswara came second with 274.3mm rainfall which is 171% more than the average rainfall of 101.2mm here.
Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner also have more than average rainfall
In the month of June, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Bikaner in the state also received more than average rainfall this season. Jaisalmer received 37.7 mm rainfall last month, which is 53 percent more than the average rainfall of 24.6 mm here.
Whereas the total rainfall in Barmer was 42.9 mm, which is 27 percent more than the average rainfall of 33.7 mm here. The total rainfall in Bikaner from 1 to 30 June was 43.5 mm, which is 2 percent more than the average rainfall of 42.7 mm here.
Water arrived in 95 dams, 21 were full
Not only Bisalpur, there are many small and big dams whose water level has increased due to continuous rain. Before the monsoon, out of 692 dams, only 7 dams were full, while 387 dams were completely dry.
But after the arrival of monsoon, 28 out of 692 dams have become full. Out of these, 21 dams became full in just 15 days of rain. Apart from this, water has arrived in 95 dry dams. However, there are still 292 dams in the state which are completely dry.
Due to the rains in June, Narayan Sagar in Beawar, Runija in Bundi, Saran Khedi in Jhalawar, Sarola and other dams which were dry have now got water. Gopalpura Dam of Baran, Ummed Sagar, Aklera Sagar, Kalisot, Chatarpura, Bilas Dam, Bhimlat of Bundi were dry before the monsoon, but after the heavy rains after the arrival of monsoon, they are now full.
Now what?
According to the weather forecast released by the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, there is a possibility of rain in the first two weeks of July. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the districts of Kota and Udaipur division in the first week and in the second week in Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur division. There is a possibility of more than average rainfall in July this time.
