Mumbai, July 8: On Tuesday (July 8), the second trading day of the week, the Sensex rose by more than 270 points to close at 83,713. Nifty rose by about 61 points, closing at 25,523.
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 18 rose. Titan’s stock fell by more than 6%. Kotak Mahindra Bank’s stock closed up by about 4%. Zomato, Asian Paints and NTPC stocks rose.
Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 27 rose and 23 fell. Pharma and healthcare sectors of NSE closed with a fall. IT, banking and realty stocks closed with a rise.
Asian markets rise, US markets fall
• In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei closed 0.26% up at 39,689 and Korea’s Kospi closed 1.81% up at 3,115.
• Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 1.09% to 24,148 and China’s Shanghai Composite closed 0.70% up at 3,497.
• On July 7, America’s Dow Jones closed down 0.94% at 44,406. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.92% to 20,412 and the S&P 500 closed down 0.79% at 6,230.
Domestic investors bought shares worth ₹1,853 crore on July 7
• On July 7, foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 321.16 crore in the cash segment. At the same time, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,853.39 crore.
• In the month of June, net purchases by foreign investors stood at Rs 7,488.98 crore. At the same time, domestic investors also made net purchases worth Rs. 72,673.91 crore in the month.
• In the month of May, net purchases by foreign investors stood at Rs 11,773.25 crore. At the same time, domestic investors also made net purchases worth Rs. 67,642.34 crore in the month.
The market was closed flat yesterday
On the first trading day of the week, i.e. Monday, July 7, the Sensex closed at 83,443, up about 10 points. There was no change in the Nifty, it closed at the previous closing level (25,461)
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 18 declined. BEL, Tech Mahindra and UltraTech Cement fell by 2.4%. Kotak Mahindra Bank and Hindustan Unilever rose by 3%.
Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 28 closed down. NSE’s IT, media and metal sectors saw the biggest decline. FMCG closed with a gain of 1.7%.
