The main work of both the houses of the Parliament is to make legislation or law. For this, first a bill is presented in the house. Then it is discussed, after that it is passed by everyone’s consent or voting. After the President’s approval, it becomes a law.

How are Rajya Sabha MPs elected?

Rajya Sabha members are not elected directly by the public, but indirectly. This means that the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) of the states and union territories elect these members. Votes are cast for the number of vacant Rajya Sabha seats in a state according to the number of MLAs in the state. After this, Rajya Sabha members are elected.
