Kinner Kailash yatra suspended due to bad weather in Himachal Pradesh

The Kinnaur district administration in Himachal Pradesh has suspended the Kinnar Kailash Yatra in view of the bad weather.

Kinnaur, July 18: The Kinnaur district administration in Himachal Pradesh has suspended the Kinner Kailash Yatra in view of the bad weather. Now this yatra will be resumed after the weather becomes favorable and the road is repaired. Right now this yatra has been declared unsafe and has been stopped. This yatra of Kinner Kailash was started only on Tuesday and it is to continue till 30 August.

Heavy rain warning has been issued in the state from 21 to 23 June. In such a situation, there is less possibility of the yatra starting for the next five-six days. Devotees of Lord Bhole will have to wait for the yatra. Devotees of Lord Bhole come from all over the country for the Kinner Kailash Yatra. But, this yatra had to be postponed three days after it started. Kinner Kailash, at an altitude of 19,850 feet, is considered to be the winter residence of Lord Shiva.

Heavy rain in many parts of the state

Meanwhile, heavy rains occurred in many parts of the state from last night till 9 am. Shimla also received rainfall for more than 5 hours. Jogindernagar in Mandi has received the highest rainfall of 40.0 mm in the last 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Chamba and Kangra today. Light rain or cloudy skies are forecast in other districts as well.

On the other hand, flash flood warning has also been issued in Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur. Meanwhile, the Lahaul Spiti administration has banned bike rides on the Manali-Leh highway. Bike movement has been temporarily suspended till further orders after road damage due to rain in Tanglang, Leh.

Heavy rain warning from 21 to 23

There is a forecast of heavy rain again in the state after 3 days. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts between 21 and 23 July. The weather is expected to be clear or lightly cloudy in most parts tomorrow.

This week rainfall is 35 percent less than normal

This monsoon season has seen 12 percent more rain than normal. But in the month of July, the rainfall has been 5 percent less than normal. Between 1st and 17th July, the normal rainfall is 129 mm, but this time, 122.4 mm of rain has fallen. This week, i.e. between 10th and 17th July, the rainfall has been 35 percent less than normal. During this period, the normal rainfall is 61.2 mm. But this time, only 40 mm of rain has fallen.

110 people have lost their lives

110 people have lost their lives in this monsoon season (20 June to 17 July) in the state. Out of these, 23 people have died due to landslides, cloudbursts and floods, while 35 people are missing.

Property worth Rs 1200 crore damaged

Government and private property worth more than Rs 1200 crore has been destroyed in this rainy season. More than 1000 houses have been damaged due to heavy rain and cloudburst.
