Gurdaspur, July 23: After the firing at the Punjab Watch Company shop in Gurdaspur a few days ago, the police was searching for the accused.In this connection, a blockade was put up in the city and vehicles were being checked. During this, an encounter took place between the police and the criminal who committed the above crime today i.e. on Tuesday.
It is alleged that the criminal opened fire on the police and when the police retaliated, one criminal got injured. This incident took place on the dirty drain path between Babri bypass and Navipur in Gurdaspur. The criminal has been admitted to Civil Hospital Gurdaspur by the police for treatment.
The youth was coming on a Pulsar bike without a number plate
According to information, the police were conducting checks by setting up blockades at many places in the city. Meanwhile, a suspicious person coming on a Pulsar motorcycle without a number plate started running away on seeing the police. The police chased him and surrounded him.
Shooting by the accused, police retaliatory action
When the police tried to stop him by lowering him down, he started firing an assault rifle. The police also retaliated and engaged in a gunfight, in which the accused was injured due to a bullet wound to the leg.
Identification and interrogation of the accused continues
After the encounter, the police immediately took the injured accused to the hospital. According to police officials, the accused is being identified and as soon as his condition improves, he will be interrogated.
Strict blockade in the area
The police have further increased the blockade in the area so that more accused can be caught. The police said that the search is also on for other criminals related to the shooting incident in Gurdaspur and strict action will be taken.
