Chandigarh, July 26: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD (Officer on Special Duty) Rajbir Singh has sent a defamation notice to Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira. The notice has demanded a written apology from Khaira within 72 hours.

The notice states that Sukhpal Khaira has made false and baseless allegations against Rajbir Singh which damage his reputation. The notice issued by Rajbir Singh’s lawyers has warned that legal action will be initiated against Khaira if he does not apologize by Monday (July 29).

The case has created a new tension in Punjab politics, where the confrontation between government officials and the opposition parties is increasing. Now it will be interesting to see whether Khaira changes his attitude or prepares for a trial.

Sukhpal Khaira alleges corruption in Punjab government’s SSF vehicle procurement

Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira has made serious allegations of corruption against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his OSD Rajbir Singh and the Punjab Police DGP during the procurement of 144 vehicles for the Road Safety Force (SSF).

Khaira claimed that there was a scam worth crores in this procurement. He said that not a single vehicle was bought at a discounted price, while ordinary customers get a discount of up to Rs 10 lakh.

Khaira raised questions about the hidden amount of about Rs 14.5 crore and asked whose account this amount went into. Khaira has demanded the central investigation agency CBI for a complete investigation into this matter.

The controversy has created a stir in Punjab politics, where opposition parties are increasing pressure on the government to show transparency and accountability.
