Ludhiana: In a tragic incident in Ludhiana, Punjab, a 13-year-old Class 9 student, Arsh Saini, died by suicide on July 26, 2025, allegedly due to mental harassment by two female teachers.

The incident occurred in Kabir Nagar, where Arsh was found hanging from an iron pipe on the roof of his home, using a dupatta as a noose. A suicide note recovered by the police named two teachers, Savita and Rameshwari, accusing them of mentally harassing him, which drove him to take the extreme step.

Arsh’s father, Balwinder Kumar Saini, told police that his only son was a student at a local school. On returning home from work, Balwinder inquired about Arsh, only to learn from his wife that he had gone out with friends. After a frantic search, Balwinder discovered his son’s body on the roof. With the help of neighbor Jodh Singh, the family rushed Arsh to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The suicide note, seized by the police along with the dupatta and a pen, explicitly mentioned the Hindi and Punjabi teachers, Savita and Rameshwari, as responsible for Arsh’s distress. The note demanded legal action against them. Based on the note and Balwinder’s statement, Ludhiana police registered an FIR against the two teachers under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment of suicide.

The investigation is underway, with a special report submitted to the magistrate and senior officials.
