Mohali, July 28: Shiromani Akali Dal held a protest in Mohali on Monday against the land pooling policy of the Punjab government. The protest was led by party chief and former deputy CM Sukhbir Badal himself. Amidst the rain, he cornered the Aam Aadmi Party on the issue of land pooling.
He said that no matter how much pressure the people of Delhi put in, we will not let even an inch of Punjab’s land be acquired. We will fight a long battle for this. Punjab has suffered a lot in the last 10 years. Captain Amarinder Singh did nothing in the first five years,
And now these people are also not doing anything. He advised the officers that they will go to Delhi after the elections, but the officers have to stay here. Some officers have forgotten their role in the desire to become Chief Secretary and Commissioner. We will get everyone investigated.” At the same time, he said that the policemen who salute the people of Delhi today, will salute the Akalis after one and a half years.
Sukhbir said that whatever promise I made, I have fulfilled it. Be it roads or electricity surplus or running buses in water. In the end, he told the Akali Dal leaders and workers that this party is not my property. It was built by the struggle of your elders.
Punjabis don’t let flies sit on their noses; this is land
Former MLA of Derabassi, NK Sharma, said that the health of Chief Sukhbir Badal has deteriorated. However, he will be coming in five minutes with medicines. Sharma said that there is a guest house for Delhiites next to PUDA. We have come to tell them that we will not let the looters of Delhi snatch even an inch of Punjab’s land.
Punjabis do not allow a fly to sit on their nose in anger. This is land. They have kept an eye on 64 thousand acres of land. When they issued the notification, they issued orders on the same day that no construction would be done on that land. If the farmers do not give the land, we will take the land by force.
We are sitting in Mohali. The people of Mohali have already suffered. The same act under which they are going to acquire the land is the same 1995 act under which they are going to acquire the land. Congress had also tried this. At that time, the farmers were given a rate of Rs 8 lakh per acre. People have been protesting for five years and have not allowed the land to be acquired.
After this, Prakash Singh Badal’s government was formed and 840 acres of land was de-notified and given to farmers. Today, the land is being sold for 20 to 40 crore rupees. They have come to acquire land for free. The formula they want to apply is already applied in Delhi and Noida. Delhi leaders will bring dealers to Punjab. They will take your land and give it to them. We will not give them land. Till the land is notified, the struggle will continue.
Clouds and rain are a good sign- Dr Cheema
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the rain has come and the clouds have also come. This is a very good sign, whenever clouds come, Shiromani Akali Dal governments come.
The party stands with farmers and labourers
