International desk: The death toll in Nepal Earthquake has risen from 69 to 128. A shallow depth Earthquake of Magnitude 6.4 jolted Nepal last night. The toll can increase in coming time, the officials said.
The earthquake, measuring 6.4 in magnitude, had its epicenter in Lamidanda, Jajarkot district. This seismic event, which occurred at 11.47 pm on Friday, was felt not only in Kathmandu and its surrounding areas but also as far as New Delhi in neighboring India.
The quake killed at least 35 people in Rukum district and 34 others in neighbouring Jajarkot district, officials said.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed sorrow at the loss of life and property in the quake and ordered immediate rescue and relief operations in a post on social media X, formerly known as Twitter.
In 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed some 9,000 people and damaged more than half a million houses in the mountainous country.
