All restaurants and clubs in Jalandhar to be closed till 12 midnight, read DC’s order

Jalandhar: To maintain law and order in the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Jalandhar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankur Gupta has issued orders for closure of all restaurants, clubs and other licensed eating places by 12 midnight.

The order issued by the DCP in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, said that after 11:30 pm, all restaurants, clubs or other licensed restaurants within the police commissionerate limits, drinks will not be served. No orders of alcoholic beverages etc. will be taken and no new customers will be allowed to enter restaurants, clubs or other licensed eating places after 11:30 pm. If there are any premises adjacent to liquor shops, then it should also be completely closed at 12 midnight.

In the order, all these institutions have been instructed to comply with the noise level of 10 dB. The order also states that all sound systems, including DJs, live singing or orchestras, should be turned off or switched off by 10 pm. Any sound generated inside any building or premises after 10 pm should not be heard outside the premises. In case of vehicles equipped with a music system, the sound of the music system should not be heard outside the vehicle at any time of the day.

In a separate order, the DCP Commissionerate Police has banned putting up unauthorized boards on roads and footpaths within Jalandhar limits, shopkeepers have been banned from selling goods on roads and footpaths outside the limits of their shops. These orders will remain in force till 5 February 2024.
