Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said on Tuesday that there is no need to worry about the supply of petrol and diesel in the district as the administration is keeping a close watch on the entire situation. He also said that the supply of petrol and diesel will be ensured and people should not make any panic buying.
The Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with depot heads of oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited at the district administrative complex. DC Sarangal has asked these companies to make internal arrangements to ensure that due to the transporters’ strike, there is no shortage of petrol, diesel and LPG. Supply should not be affected.
He said that the district administration will provide every kind of support to the companies to facilitate the supply to petrol pumps. He also said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is in talks with the competent authorities and the striking transporters to resolve the issue soon. The Deputy Commissioner also warned that hoarding will not be tolerated at petrol pumps or by any individual.
