Chandigarh Mayoral Election: Big Win of BJP, Manoj Kumar Sonkar elected as Mayor

Chandigarh: In a major setback to INDIA bloc in the mayoral elections of Chandigarh, BJP’s councillor Manoj Kumar Sonkar has been elected as the Mayor of Chandigarh MC.

BJP won Chandigarh mayoral elections with 16 votes to its mayor candidate Manoj Sonkar. The Congress & AAP mayor candidate Kuldeep Singh got 12 votes. 8 votes were declared invalid.

Earlier, the election was supposed to be held on January 18 and was cancelled last minute. This Sudden deferment of elections triggered uproar among the workers of AAP and Congress, who were contesting elections together.

Following the interference of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Elections were held today.
