Chandigarh: Under Green Schools Programme, Sangrur has been awarded with title of ‘Best District’ in the country. The news was shared by CM Bhagwant Mann himself, who also hails from Sangrur.
In a post on X, CM said, “Sangrur has been awarded as the best district in the country under Green Schools Programme.”
He also shared a quote in hindi, “Jis din se Chla hua meri Manzil par Nazar hai, Aankho ne Kabhi Meel Ka pathar nhi dekha (Since the day I set out, I have my sight on destination, eyes have never seen a milestone.)”
What is Green School Program
The novelty of CSE’s Green Schools Programme lies in the fact that it moves beyond theories and textbooks and concentrates solely on ‘doing’. It is an environmental education programme directed to subtly sensitizing students to the environment through hands-on and thought provoking activities.
It is also an environment management system that audits, through students, the consumption of natural resources within school campuses and helps schools become good environmental managers by deploying pragmatic solutions to reduce wastage of precious resources.
