Farmer Gian Singh dies during farmers’ protest, family says ‘we are proud of him’

 The deceased farmer has been identified as Gian Singh, son of Gujjar Singh, village Chachowke, district Gurdaspur.

Gurdaspur: Police action is being taken continuously against the farmers who are protesting on the Shambhu and Khannauri border of Haryana regarding their demands. Tear gas shells and water cannons are being thrown on the farmers so as to disperse them.   

 The health of a farmer deteriorated after coming in contact with the gas shell and he was taken to Rajendra Hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment. As per reports, the farmer died of cardiac arrest.

 The deceased farmer has been identified as Gian Singh, son of Gujjar Singh, village Chachowke, district Gurdaspur.

 On 11 February, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee had gone to Shambhu border with the group of Baba Namdev Ji and on 14 February, he got injured when a tear gas shell fell on him and his health started deteriorating. He was taken to a private hospital and later to Rajpura Hospital and later to Rajendra Hospital where he died during treatment.

 Giving the same information, village Sarpanch Jagdish Singh said that the family has been informed about this incident and the dead body of the farmer will soon be sent to his village and Punjab head of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Sarwan Singh Pandher will take further action on this matter. On this the family members said that we are proud of our brother’s martyrdom if he too was needed for the struggle.
