Proving once again its supremacy on its soil, the Indian team won the 17th consecutive series in its host country by defeating England by five wickets on the fourth day in the fourth cricket test. Chasing the target of 192 runs to win, India started the game ahead of yesterday’s score of 40 runs without any loss.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (37 runs in 44 balls) and captain Rohit Sharma (55 runs in 81 balls) added 84 runs for the first wicket. After the fall of both their wickets, Rajat Patidar and Ravindra Jadeja were also out cheaply but Shubman Gill (52 not out) and Dhruv Jurel (39 not out) made a partnership of 72 runs to take the team to victory.

Made a winning lead of 1 while the fifth and last match will be played in Dharamshala from March 7. The Indian team last played on its soil in 2012. In 13, they lost to the England team led by Alastair Cook. Since then, India has won 39 out of 50 Tests it has hosted.
