Sukhbir Badal ‘Sukhvilas Hotel’ built on the foundation of ‘Misuse of Power’: CM Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh: Politics has heated up in Punjab regarding the Sukhvilas Hotel built in the Shivalik hills near Chandigarh. Though Sukhvilas hotel has always been in news and controversies but today once again it has been highlighted after the press conference by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that it is important for everyone and especially for Punjabis to know that how previous ruled government had utilized people’s money of tax for their personal use and compromised the legal provisions.


Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted the ‘Oberoi Sukhvilas Hotel’ which is owned Badal family and shared surprising as well shocking insights about the sukhvilas hotel. CM said that the real name of this hotel is ‘Metro-Eco green Resort’ which is in pallanpur village of Mohali.
CM said, It all dates back to 1985-86 when badal family bought a land nearly huge piece of land. Since the land belonged to forest therefore no construction could have been done at that place. But for their own gains, badal family at that time brought an amendment in eco-tourism policy. Further more amendments were made in the policy as per the convenience.


CM said that a poultry farm was there at that place where later a 7-star hotel was constructed. Taking a dig, CM said it was easy for them to get the approval for anything as it was their own govt at that time. CM even told majority shares of this private company Metro eco green resort are owned by none other than Sukhbir Badal only. After the construction, in the year 2016, the Oberoi Sukhvilas Hotel came into existence and started its commercial activity.


He said that time to time Badal government has compromised with the laws and utilized them for their own personal gains. He said various incentives were provided to only ‘Sukhvilas Hotel’ under the eco-tourism policy. He even added that VAT, GST and electricity duty were waived off for long period of ten years. Disclosing a whooping amount, CM said Concessions worth Rs 108 crore 73 lakh were taken from government money for the hotel owned by Badal family.


Criticizing Punjab Bachao Yatra, CM said that Badal family has looted Punjab and their establishments is made on the foundation of people’s hard-earned money. CM termed the whole matter as a conflict of interest and abuse of power.
