New Delhi : Women’s Redball Cricket will return to India’s domestic calendar after six years when the BCCI organizes the Senior Inter Zone Tournament from March 28 in Pune.

This decision was taken after the return of the Indian women’s cricket team to Test cricket. India has recently played test matches against Australia and England. The last time the red ball domestic tournament for women was played in 2018.

Former fast bowler Amita Sharma told PTI, “This is a welcome step. The national team is playing Test cricket again and we need the next generation of cricketers who can play with the red ball.”

Maharashtra Cricket Association will host the tournament in which teams from East, West, North, South, Central and North-East will participate. The semi-finals will be held on April 3 and the final on April 9.
