Mohali: Non-teaching staff members affiliated with the Education Department under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan took to the streets in Mohali on Monday, voicing their discontent and frustration with the government’s failure to fulfill promises of regularization.
Despite assurances from the authorities, the employees lamented that they are still awaiting the regularization of their employment status.
The aggrieved employees highlighted that despite completing all necessary formalities, they have yet to receive the anticipated regularization. Promised meetings with government officials have repeatedly been rescheduled or cancelled at the last minute, exacerbating the employees’ frustration.
One of the major grievances expressed by the employees is the unresolved issue of pay discrepancies. They assert that despite assurances from the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration to address these disparities, no concrete steps have been taken to rectify the situation.
For several days now, employees working under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan have resorted to a pen-down strike to draw attention to their plight. Even a written order for a meeting from the Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, Himanshu Jain, failed to materialize as the meeting was abruptly canceled upon their arrival.
The employees recounted that they had submitted all necessary documents between October and December 2022, with promises of prompt regularization once the policy was finalized. However, a year later, they are still awaiting official appointment letters.
