Unique celebration: 300 Women in red sarees participate in ‘Saree Run’

Through this run, an attempt was made to depict that if women can manage house chores and work in a saree then she can also run in the saree.

Chandigarh: People stopped when women across all age groups came out on the road wearing red sarees. This unique sight was seen in Chandigarh on Friday. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a Saree Run was organized by the Run Club, Chandigarh. Women from every section participated enthusiastically in this run.

Women from different professions participated in the run. Some were doctors, some were retired professors, some were fashion designers and some were businesswomen. From Housewives to school girls, everyone participated enthusiastically in this competition.

Through this run, an attempt was made to depict that if women can manage house chores and work in a saree then she can also run in the saree. At the same time, women also showed how conscious they are about their work and health. A message of prioritizing physical health was given.

More than 300 women participated in this race. Girls and elders also participated with them. Everyone was wearing red colored saree. Organizer Pavila Bali said that the elders joined hands with the youth.

Elderly women participated in the marathon keeping pace with the youth. She said that her aim of participating in the marathon was to make everyone apart from other elderly women aware of their health. Being elderly does not mean that you have become helpless. If you keep yourself fit, you will not depend on anyone. If the woman of the house remains fit then the entire family will be fit.
