Minister Anmol Gagan Mann encourages players and managers at Jandpur Kabaddi fair

  She said that today she is feeling proud to see international kabaddi players like Khushi, Sultan and Arsh in the kabaddi fair of Jandpur.

Kharar: Punjab Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Investment Promotion, Hospitality and Labor Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said here today that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously striving to raise the level of sports in Punjab.  

  Cabinet Minister Mann, who came to encourage the organizers and players at the Kabaddi Mela of village Jandpur today, further said that during this financial year, 14,728 players were given cash prize money of Rs. 54 crores and 11 prominent players were given PCS/DSP jobs. The government has expressed its commitment to sports.

  He further said that Rs 272 crore has been earmarked for sports during the recently presented budget in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. A total of 1000 sports nurseries are to be established in the state and the government will provide coaching, diet, and sports equipment for a total of 60000 players at the rate of 60 players per nursery.

 50 crores have been earmarked in the budget for 250 nurseries to be set up in the first phase. Similarly, by keeping funds in the current budget for Hockey Olympian Balbir Singh Senior Scholarship Scheme to give 16000 rupees and 12000 rupees respectively to national medal-winning players at the senior and junior levels, this prestigious scheme will start from the new financial year.

  She said that today she is feeling proud to see international kabaddi players like Khushi, Sultan and Arsh in the kabaddi fair of Jandpur. She said that Kabaddi is our mother sport, our glory, inspires the youth to stay away from drugs and stay healthy. She congratulated Harpreet and all the organizers for the wonderful Kabaddi Mela and wished for an even better Mela next year.
