Jalandhar : In a major blow to International Narcotic networks, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police breaks the backbone of organised network of International Drug Smuggling syndicate & inter-state gun running racket.
Huge haul of weapons and drug recovered in both the cases after investigation 8 weapons along with 12 magazines seized from 4 arrested persons, taking the number of total seized weapons to 25.
The suspects have been previously arrested by the police. So far, the group has been found to be in possession of about 25 illegal firearms.
Sources suggest that the suspects were involved in the supply of firearms throughout Punjab, running a supply chain from Ludhiana. The police will present all the accused in court and seek remand. They believe that more illegal weapons could be recovered from the suspects.
According to the information received, on March 10, Gurpreet Singh alias Lada was arrested by the police with an illegal pistol and two cartridges.
The names of other accused came to light during the investigation. Those identified as Abhishek alias Bholu, Ramandeep Singh and Jagroop Singh were arrested and 7 pistols, 12 cartridges, 11 magazines, a Swift car and a motorcycle were recovered from them.
Reports have emerged claiming that Gurpreet Singh had bought weapons from Ludhiana due to personal issues, while Abhishek relied on Ramandeep Singh’s assistance to move around in Madhya Pradesh. All individuals involved in the incident have been apprehended by the police.
