Farmer forums against AAP govt, announced agitation on April 8 in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Farmer groups in Punjab have come out against AAP. Ugrahan Union has announced agitation against the Punjab government in Chandigarh on 8th April.

Punjab’s most active farmer groups, Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan and Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Siddhupura, have now come out against AAP after BJP. Ugrahan Union has announced to protest in Chandigarh on April 8 against the Punjab Government under the leadership of United Kisan Morcha.

The procurement of 7 lakh 25000 tonnes of wheat is being handed over to them in the very first phase. 26 mandis located in these 9 areas are being abolished by merging them with nearby mandis.

Union State president said, through this decision, the AAP government of Punjab has gone ahead of the BJP’s Modi government and is showing deep loyalty towards the corporate houses. This decision will not be tolerated at any cost, he said.

 BKU President further said that a rally in Chandigarh by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha Punjab on April 8 against this decision.

Ran Singh Chattha of Siddhupura Union has also announced strong opposition to the AAP government in this matter. He said that this is a direct attack on farming. AAP government will have to pay the price for this in the Lok Sabha elections.

Farmer unions are already opposing BJP on various demands.

The issue of the merger of mandis of silo areas will be the most discussed issue in the coming days and from the mood of the farmers it is clear that the AAP government will have to face the harsh attitude of the farmers in the coming days.

With the opening of a front against the AAP government, the political picture of Malwa in Punjab is bound to be affected and other political parties can benefit from it.
