Special holiday on June 1 for voters of Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh working in Punjab: Sibin C

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Punjab Government.

Chandigarh: It has been announced that voters of Himachal Pradesh and UT Chandigarh working in Punjab will be given special leave to cast their votes on the voting day of June 1, 2024.

Giving information in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said that if any of the government officers/employees working in government offices, boards/corporations and government educational institutions of the state of Punjab is a voter of UT Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, then he/she can cast his/her vote by presenting his voter card.  

He will be able to take special leave from the concerned authority on 01-06-2024 (Saturday). This leave will not be deducted from the leave account of officers/employees.

He further informed that the voters of UT Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh working in any industrial establishment, business, trade or any other institution of Punjab are also allowed to cast their vote as per Section 135B (1) of the Representation of the People Act 1951.

01- 06- 2024 has been declared a paid holiday. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Punjab Government.
