former cabinet minister and 'Taksali Akali' leader Jagdish Singh Garcha has decided to return to Shiromani Akali Dal after a long gap of four years.

Chandigarh : Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal is reaching Ludhiana today. After former MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and former president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bibi Jagir Kaur, now former cabinet minister and ‘Taksali Akali’ leader Jagdish Singh Garcha has decided to return to Shiromani Akali Dal after a long gap of four years.

Today, Garcha will announce his return in the presence of Shiromani Akali Dal President and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. The 80-year-old Garcha has decided to stay away from the elections, but will work to strengthen the party.

However, Garcha and other Akali (United) leaders including Bhai Mohkam Singh, Manjit Singh Bhoma opposed former MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa for announcing the party’s merger with Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Akali Dal in March this year. He also accused Dhindsa of selling out the interests of the party.

Former minister’s son Harjinder Singh Garcha said that he has no personal issue with Sukhbir Badal. He said that we are against the methodology of the party and loyalists were not getting due respect at that time. On the death anniversary of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir had a lot of respect for his father and other personalities.
