Massive fire in Faridkot Hospital, brought under control by fire tenders; no injuries reported

 The hospital administration hastily evacuated the hospitalized patients. Other patients in the hospital who have come for treatment had to wait for long time because of the mishap.  

Fardidkot: A sudden fire broke out in Medicine Unit 2 of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot today, after which the hospital administration evacuated the patients admitted to the ward following which which a major accident was avoided.

According to the received information, a sudden fire broke out in the bathrooms of Medicine Unit 2 of GGS Medical Hospital at around 1 o’clock today, due to which smoke spread in the ward rooms of the hospital.

 The hospital administration hastily evacuated the hospitalized patients. Other patients in the hospital who have come for treatment had to wait for long time because of the mishap.  

 Fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Official from the fire department said that he had received a report that there was a fire in the GGS Medical Hospital of Faridkot. He said that the fire has been brought under control and there was no loss of life. He said that the cause of the fire is yet to ascertain.

As soon as the fire was detected, Medical Superintendent Faridkot Dr. Neetu Kakkar along with senior doctors reached the spot and reviewed the rescue operations. Talking on this occasion, she said that at first sight it looks like that the fire may have started due to short circuit, but still the cause of the fire is being ascertained It is to be mentioned that GGS Medical Hospital is called Mini PGI of Malwa and people from about 7 districts of Malwa region come here for treatment and today a major accident could have happened here which was averted because of the timely response of the system.
