Phagwara: Robbers loot cash from old man after throwing red chilli powder in eyes

Giving information, the injured Santosh Singh said the robbers took cash of Rs 5700 from his pocket.

Phagwara: On one hand, flag marches are being taken out in the city by different forces in view of the elections yet the courage of the thieves and robbers to commit crime in the city is high. It has become a matter of concern that even after the blockade, thieves and robbers continue to commit theft and robbery incidents.

 The latest case came to light near Phagwara Hoshiapur Road village Khati, where a person was going back from Phagwara to his village Sangatpur with household goods.  Near Khati, two youths riding a motorcycle threw red chilli powder in the eyes of the old man and fled away with the cash.

 The injured person was identified as Santosh Singh, a resident of village Sangatpur. Giving information, the injured Santosh Singh said the robbers took cash of Rs 5700 from his pocket.

Negligence of police was also seen in this case as the victim reported that even after multiple calls police hadn’t reached the spot timely. As soon as the information about the incident was received, Halka MLA Sardar Balwinder Singh Dhariwal reached Civil Hospital of Phagwara to inquire about the condition of the victim. The victim demanded from the senior police officers that the looted cash should be returned to him
