Vigilance Bureau arrested Patwari and his associate for taking bribe of Rs 3,500.

Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday, during the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, arrested Revenue Patwari Sukhwinder Singh Sodhi posted at Patwar Khana in Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana and his colleague Amandeep Singh alias Deep, resident of village Dheri, near Meharban, District Ludhiana for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500.

Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday, during the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, arrested Revenue Patwari Sukhwinder Singh Sodhi posted at Patwar Khana in Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana and his colleague Amandeep Singh alias Deep, resident of village Dheri, near Meharban, District Ludhiana for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500.

Disclosing this today, an official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above mentioned Revenue Officer and his associate (Karinda) have been arrested on the complaint of Telu Ram, Chander Nagar, Ludhiana.

He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said Patwari and his associate were demanding a bribe of Rs 3,500 for releasing 30 years of Jamabandi records related to his plot. Because he had to get a loan from the bank, he needed a record of this deposit.

The complainant further alleged that during the meeting, the Patwari asked him to meet his associate Amandeep Singh alias Deep in this regard, who demanded Rs 3,500 as bribe.

Out of which the Patwari’s associate demanded Rs 500 and the remaining amount of Rs 3000 would be paid to the Patwari. The complainant had recorded the said conversation and handed it over to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.

The spokesperson said that after the preliminary investigation related to this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap, in which the accused Amandeep Singh alias Deep was arrested red-handed in the presence of two government witnesses from the parking of the above mentioned Patwar Khana, when he was accepting Rs 3500 from the complainant.
