Lok Sabha polls: Congress to announce candidates from HP tomorrow, list may also be released for by-elections

The list of names has been sent to the Central Election Committee (CEC) for final approval.

Shimla: Congress party will announce tickets for Himachal Pradesh seats for Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Along with Lok Sabha seats, tickets can also be announced for by-elections in 6 assembly constituencies. As per reports, the names of the candidates have been shortlisted in the meeting held recently and final announcement is awaited.

The list of names has been sent to the Central Election Committee (CEC) for final approval. Candidates from Mandi, Hamirpur and Shimla parliamentary constituencies are almost certain.  

The Congress party high command is preparing to field State Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh from Mandi, Satpal Raizada from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency and Vinod Sultanpuri from Shimla parliamentary constituency. It should ne noted that BJP has fielded Kangana Ranaut from Mandi Constituency.

  The name for Kangra parliamentary seat has not been finalized yet. Many names including former minister Asha Kumari are being discussed. Last Saturday, the meeting of Screening Committee and Congress Party Coordination Committee in Delhi was held. In the meeting, apart from regional and caste equations, the survey report was discussed.  

All the senior leaders of Himachal including Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, State President Pratibha Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri besides Kaul Singh Thakur, Ramlal Thakur were also present during the meeting.
