Drive against illicit activities in districts of border range; 72 POs arrested with drugs and liquor

So far as the deposition of the weapons are concerned, 42638 weapons out of a total of 51711 in the Border Range, Amritsar, have been deposited which is 82.45% of the total.

Amritsar: In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Election Commission of India and Sh. Gaurav Yadav, IPS, DGP-Punjab intensive efforts are being made to curb the manufacturing/supply of drugs/illicit liquor in the districts of Border Range, Amritsar i.e. Amritsar Rural, Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot due to Lok Sabha Election- 2024.

A special campaign has also been launched to arrest the POs/ Absconders in Border Range, Amritsar and overwhelming results have been obtained concerning arrest of Pos/Absconders and recovery of drugs. Total 72 POs/Absconders have been arrested during the last 10 days. Similarly a large quantity of illicit liquor/licit liquor and other drugs have been recovered.

SSsP of Border Range districts have been instructed to continue similar efforts in their respective areas to curb the manufacturing/supply of drugs/illicit liquor, so that it can not be misused during the Lok Sabha Election.
