Dilroz Murder Case: Ludhiana Court pronounces death penalty to convict

District Court and sessions Judge pronounced the death penalty to the convict Neelam in this case.

Ludhiana: Giving a strong judgment in the Dilroz Murder case of Ludhiana, District Court and sessions Judge pronounced the death penalty to the convict Neelam in this case. Neelam will be first woman from Punjab to be hanged till death.

The trial in the murder case of Dilroz reached its conclusion in the court of sessions judge Munish Singal on Tuesday and today court pronounced the order of the death penalty to the convict.

Clear message to society

Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghuman, who was representing family of the victim while interacting with the media said that Sessions court after hearing all the arguments has announced death sentence. Advocate Ghuman further added that the verdict of the court has given clear and strong message to society that the guilty will not be spared for such heinous crime.

The backdrop of Dilroz Murder Case

On 28 November 2021, a woman named Neelam, a resident of Shimlapuri area, after abducting two-and-a-half-year-old innocent Dilroz, who lived in the neighborhood, took her to Salem Tabri area and brutally killed her by burying her alive.  

Neelam planned the toddler’s murder due to an old rivalry she had with the family. She buried the child alive after digging a pit in a field near Salem Tabri. After the incident, the accused returned home and started behaving normally.

However, she confessed during interrogation after police scanned CCTVs and found her taking the girl away on her scooter. An FIR under section 364 (kidnapping with intent to kill) of IPC was registered at the Shimlapuri police station, and after the child’s death, sections 302 and 201 of IPC were added.

During questioning, she confessed her crime and said she had buried the girl in a pit in fields in Salem Tabri. Police rescued the toddler and rushed her to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), but she had died already.
