Sangrur: In a deadly brawl between inmates in Sangrur jail, two dead while two injured have been reported. Deputy Inspector General of Police of Patiala Range Surinder Singh Saini in the matter said that a total of nine prisoners attacked other four prisoners in a barrack when they were being shifted to a cell at 7 pm yesterday.
The cause behind the clash is yet to be ascertained and police have started the investigation.
Surinder Singh Saini said, “When the prisoners were being counted and shifted to their respective cells, nine prisoners went inside the barrack and attacked other four prisoners. There was a serious attack with sharp weapon.”
2 Dead while 2 injured in attack
In the attack, 2 prisoners have been reported dead while 2 were injured.
The inmates who died were identified as Harsh and Dharmender Singh, while Gagandeep Singh and Mohd Sehwaz were injured. Civil Surgeon of the government hospital said that 4 prisoners were brought out of which 2 were declared brought dead. The other two injured inmates have been referred to Rajindra Hospital , Patiala for treatment.
