Jalandhar Police recovers jewellery, cash; three thieves arrested

He said that on inspection, the complainant found gold, silver ornaments and Rs 1,00,000 missing and FIR No. 457/380 IPC dated 19-04-2024 against unknown persons at Police Station Division 7 was filed. 

Jalandhar: Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested a gang of thieves and recovered valuables from them. Giving information in this regard, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep said that Lalit Seth son of Satya Seth resident of 1323 Urban Estate Phase 1, Jalandhar had complained that he had gone to Dwarka, Delhi on 13 April 2024 and after returning home he Noticed that the lock and latch of the main door was broken.

He said that on inspection, the complainant found gold, silver ornaments and Rs 1,00,000 missing and FIR No. 457/380 IPC dated 19-04-2024 against unknown persons at Police Station Division 7 was filed. 

Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep said the police found that Manjit Lal alias Mannu a habitual criminal, was a suspect in the theft. He said that while acting on the information, the police arrested the suspect who was trying to sell stolen assets and recovered Rs 90,000 in cash and some gold and silver jewelery from him.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep said that during interrogation Manjit Lal admitted that he along with his accomplice Sandeep Kaur alias Priya and Dolly alias Rani were involved in the theft.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep said that the police also arrested Sandeep Kaur and her accomplice Dolly @ Rani, when they were trying to sell the stolen gold jewellery. He said that one of the accused, Manjit Lal, has several FIRs registered against him under the NDPS Act and Theft.  Further investigation is going on and more details will be shared by the police.
