Dr. Atul Verma assumes charge as Himachal Pradesh DGP

DGP Dr. Atul Verma said that his priority is to curb the demand and supply of growing drug trade in the state.

Shimla: 1991 batch IPS officer Dr Atul Verma who has been made DGP of Himachal Pradesh took charge today. After taking charge, he reached his office at Shimla Police Headquarters.

While talking to the media, Dr. Atul Verma said that the new responsibility is both an opportunity and a challenge for him. He said Himachal Pradesh Police is top in the country and he will worki to maintain this place.

DGP Dr. Atul Verma said that his priority is to curb the demand and supply of growing drug trade in the state.

 Regarding the criminal incidents that took place in Himachal Pradesh in the past, he said that Himachal Pradesh is a safe place for women. Atul Verma said that after drug addiction, his priority will be to curb the increasing cyber cases in the state.

The increasing suicides in Himachal Pradesh is matter of grave concern. At the same time, security arrangements will be tight regarding the President’s visit to Shimla. The police have completed preparations for this.
