Rohtak : In Rohtak district of Haryana the police and administration team stopped the marriage of a minor bride in a village. 14 days still left for the girl to attain adulthood. The family members wrote to the administration that they would get the daughter married only when she attains majority.
After this the wedding procession that had come from Jind returned.
The police called the village sarpanch to the spot. Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Karvindra Kaur talked to the girl. The girl told that she is getting married as per her wish. He has seen the boy. When the girl’s educational records were checked, she was found to be 14 days short of completing the age of 18 years. On this the police stopped the marriage with immediate effect.
Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Karvindra Kaur said that on Friday information was received that a minor girl was being married in a village of Meham Chaubisi. The girl is still 14 days short of completing 18 years of age. On the other hand, the wedding procession has arrived from Jind and preparations for the procession are going on. On information, the team of Lakhanmajra police station and administration reached the village.
