Call fraud in Haryana: thug impersonates himself as CRPF officer; embezzles 1.22 lakh from two accounts

A case of embezzling Rs 1.22 lakh from two accounts has come to light by sending a scanner to a building material supplier in Sonipat village Badhamalik after impersonates himself a CRPF officer.

The accused had called the victim in the name of ordering 100 bags of cement. Based on the statement of the supplier’s son, the police have registered a case of fraud and theft and started investigation.

Jatin Rana, resident of village Badhamlik, told Rai police station that his father Baljit Singh Rana runs a shop in the name of Rana Hardware and Building Material on Twentieth Mile Road in front of the village. His father had received a call from a number on May 1. The caller said that he was an officer in the CRPF camp.

They need 100 bags of cement for the camp. He is sending the first Rs 17 thousand online. After that he will give the remaining money when he brings the cement. On this his father gave his mobile number. The swindler said that since he was an army officer he could not send money directly to his account. They will have to send the money through the scanner.

On this he sent a scanner to him. As soon as it was scanned, one rupee was deducted from one of his bank accounts, scanner was sent to him again. Due to which Rs 17,000 and Rs 4,999 were deducted from his bank account twice.

Also, Rs 44,444 and Rs 55,555 were deducted from the other bank account at one go. A total of Rs 1,21,998 were deducted from their accounts.

Then they discovered the fraud. He called cyber helpline number 1930. After that now a complaint has been given to the police. The police have registered a case.
