Punjab: Heatwave alert in Ludhiana, mercury crosses 44 degree celsius

Ludhiana's Samrala is hottest with 46.1 degrees.

Punjab: In Punjab, red alert of heat wave has been issued for four districts of Punjab, Mansa, Bathinda, Muktsar and Fazilika. There will be severe heat wave in these districts on Sunday and Saturday. Along with day, night temperature is also continuously increasing. The weather of Punjab is going to remain dry from now on.

The scorching heat continues to wreak havoc across Punjab. The temperature is rising day by day and heat waves have made life difficult for people. Due to hot winds, the temperature in more than 10 districts of the state has crossed 44 degrees. On Saturday also Samrala in Ludhiana district remained the hottest. The temperature here was recorded at 46.1 which is 5.5 degrees more than normal.

Along with day, night temperature is also continuously increasing.

11 years ago Ludhiana had experienced such heat in month of May. It is more dangerous for children, elderly and patients. This is why the department has advised people to avoid strong sunlight and if necessary then go outside.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather of Punjab and Haryana is going to remain dry for next three days, due to which no change will be seen in it. At most places the temperature is likely to remain around 45-46 degrees. Similarly, due to heat wave, the temperature in southern and western parts of Punjab can reach up to 47 degrees. There has been slight rain in some parts, but it has not brought any respite from the heat.
