Panchkula: The heat is very severe in Haryana including Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal. Common people are suffering from scorching heat. It is extremely hot in 10 districts of Haryana.
Meteorological Department alert has been issued for heat wave moving at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour. In view of this, red alert has been issued in Mahendragarh, Rewari, Mewat, Palwal, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri till 26th May.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in 10 districts of Punjab. The temperature here is likely to exceed 45 degrees. Apart from Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga and Bathinda, red alert has been issued in Barnala, Mansa.
Even in Chandigarh, people are not going to get respite from the heat. Along with the day, the night temperature has also started rising. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heat wave till May 27.
Yellow alert of heat wave has been issued in 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh today. These include Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kullu, Solan and Sirmaur. Heat wave has been going on in the mountains for 6 days.
Risk of dehydration increases in this season
According to the Meteorological Department, at present the maximum day temperature in Haryana is 1.7 degrees above normal, and the night temperature is 4.9 degrees above normal. Here, doctors say that the risk of dehydration increases in this season.
A case of death of a 70-year-old man due to dehydration has also come to light in Hansi, Haryana.
Night temperature increased by 5 degrees
Along with days, nights are also getting hotter in Haryana. An increase of up to 5 degrees has been recorded in the minimum temperature during seven days.
Barring two districts, the minimum temperature in all other 20 districts has reached more than 28 degrees. There was some relief in Panipat and Yamunanagar, the minimum temperature of Panipat and Sonipat was recorded at 27.5 degrees.
This is the lowest among other districts. If we talk about day’s mercury, Sirsa had the highest temperature. A maximum temperature of 47.7 degrees was recorded here.
Heat increased due to lack of rain
Meteorologists say that the biggest reason for the heat is that there has been 31% less rainfall in the last two and a half months. More than normal rainfall has occurred in 4 districts Jind, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal and Ambala has received near normal rainfall. Whereas 17 districts have received less than normal rainfall.
Normal rainfall should have been 35 mm in the state by May 20, but 24.8 mm of rainfall has been recorded. Haryana has received only 4.2 mm of rain so far in May, whereas 11.3 mm of rain is considered normal in this month.
