Gurugram: 5 accused of sentenced to life imprisonment for murder

The crime was committed due to old rivalry, a fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed.

Haryana: The court has convicted five accused in the case of murder by hitting a person on the head during a fight over an old rivalry while playing cards three years ago. This order has been given by the court of Additional and Sessions Judge.


On April 19, 2021, at seven in the evening, a youth from the village had taken Sandeep with him to play cards. When Sandeep did not come home till late night, the family members went to the room in Surajmal’s vacant plot to search for him and found Sandeep’s body lying in a bloody condition. There were injury marks on the head and legs of the deceased.

In this matter, Sandeep’s father had lodged a complaint in the DLF Phase-1 police station. Taking action, the police arrested three accused Dinesh alias Major, Jagbir, Praveen from village Bandhwadi on 20 April 2021. After this, Sukhbir alias Sukha was arrested on 9 July 2021 and Roshan was arrested on 26 April 2024. Investigation revealed that the crime was committed due to an old rivalry with the accused Dinesh alias Major and because of abusive language while playing cards. The police had collected evidence and witnesses against the accused in the case and presented them in the court. The court has declared the accused guilty after hearing both the sides. It has sentenced life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 each, six months rigorous imprisonment under Section 120B and one year imprisonment under Section 201 with a fine of Rs 1,000.
