Bengaluru: In a major update in the Karnataka Sex Scandal video case, Prajwal Revanna has been sent to 6-day SIT custody. The special investigation team sought custody for 14 days but they were granted custody for 6 days only. The suspended JD(S) MP arrived today at the Bengaluru Airport following which he was arrested by the police.
Prajwal Revanna rape accused of Karnatka sex video scandal JD-S MP arrived at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru. Prajwal Revanna arrived here on Lufthansa flight No. LH764 from Munich on a business class ticket. Police authorities have taken him into custody.
A case of rape and obscene video was registered against Prajwal Revanna and he left the country April, 26th. He returned to India from Berlin, Germany, nearly a month after leaving the country on a diplomatic passport.
At Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru immigration authority detained him after arrival and inform to the office of Loksabha speaker as well to the police. After completion the formality police will produce him to the court and will get him on remand.
The grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Prajwal Revanna had left the country on diplomatic passport. The authorities have issued an arrest warrant, a look out notice, and a Blue Corner notice against him after registered the case.
Once the formalities and paperworks are completed, Prajwal Revanna will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case. He will be taken directly from the airport to the Bowring Hospital for a medical check-up. After that, he will be transported to the SIT office located within the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) premises.
The SIT officers were stationed at the airport since the evening to take him into custody. Two battalions of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) and more than 50 police personnel have been deployed at the entrance of the CID headquarters as a preventive measure.
Before Arrival Revanna Release Video Message
Prajwal Revanna, in a self-made video released on May 27, said that he will appear before the SIT on May 31 for questioning. Revanna said that his trip was pre-planned as there was no case against him when the voting was held in Karnataka on April 26 for the general elections.
He also alleged political conspiracy against him as he was “growing in politics.”
The anticipatory bail plea filed by Revanna on May 29 is still pending in court. Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea was filed hours after the SIT arrested two prime accused in connection with the case. The arrested have been identified as Naveen Gowda and Chetan, the police said on Wednesday.
