Polling Day tomorrow in Punjab, Over 2 crore voters to cast vote: Punjab CEO Sibin C

Chandigarh: During the ultimate phase of voting, Polling for the Lok Sabha elections is to be held in Punjab on Saturday tomorrow i.e. June 1. Today, Punjab Election Officer Sibin C held a press conference today.

Punjab CEO Sibin C gave information about the arrangements made regarding elections. Giving information on the number of voters, he said that there are 2 crore 14 lakh primary voters. On the new voters in Punjab, he said this time there are 5 lakh 38,000 new voters. The number of new voters has increased significantly during these elections.

Talking about the duties at the polling booth, he said that the employees will leave for all the polling booths today. For this, preparations are going on vigorously in all the districts of the state.

Along with this, liquor shops have been closed from 6 pm tomorrow, which will now open only after voting on June 1. Police and administration are now on alert mode. Dry day will be there on the day of counting of votes, i.e. on June 4.


Punjab CEO affirmed that this time the target is to achieve voting turnout more than 70 percent. He also added that there will be webcasting. He said on polling stations in Punjab there are 1 lakh 20 thousand polling staff and 70000 security staff. Meanwhile, 10 thousand vehicles are being used. There are 5694 critical polling stations.
